Career Profile - Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor
Angelo Lagadi
Angelo Lagadi is a Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor at Hemp Oil Canada whose work ensures safe, high quality hemp food products.
Working with food is something Angelo has always had his eye on. “Originally, I wanted to be a registered dietician because I was fascinated with food and its effects on the body, but I decided that I didn’t want to tell people what to eat and what not to eat,” explained Angelo. “Instead, I wanted to be part of an industry that would contribute positively to people’s health.”
Angelo graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutritional Sciences. His typical day as a Quality Assurance Laboratory Supervisor involves coordinating microbiological, allergen, and pathogen testing on hemp food products. In order to perform this important job, Angelo requires current, in-depth knowledge of food properties and food processing practices. However, he does not mind the study and work as he enjoys being a part of an organization that contributes to people’s well-being.
“Getting the opportunity to travel and talk to people about our products is also a great bonus,” admitted Angelo.
His advice for students is to set both long and short-term goals and then write them out. The goals should be specific, have a deadline, and be challenging enough to make you work hard, but realistic enough to keep you working when the going gets tough.
“Be relentless. Good things come to those who refuse to wait,” said Angelo.
